Abstract
Women represent a pool ofpotential entrepreneurs in various stages of development, with different demographic patterns and different labour force conditions. Women have decided to take the risks involved combining resources together in a unique way so as to take advantage of the opportunity identified in their immediate environment through production of goods and services. As a result of this notion that the study intends to investigates the effects of skills, capability, knowledge and resources on the performance of women entrepreneurs in Nigeria using Taraba State as our case study. The population of the study is made up the Women entrepreneurs in Micro and Small enterprises (MSEs) within Taraba State and due to none existent separate data base on women entrepreneurs in Micro and Small enterprises, the researcher employed an infinite population i.e. a population without a definite size and a population sample of 200 was adopted and questionnaires were administered to them of 160 were dully filled and returned. The questionnaires were subjected to correlation test, to ascertain the strength of the relationship among the variables and Analysis of Variance was conducted, in order to investigate the significance of the variables of interest and results indicate that skills of women entrepreneur does affect their productivity in Nigeria and knowledge of women entrepreneurs does affect their ability to attract a competent workforce. We then conclude that for women entrepreneurs in Nigeria to grow and positively affect the nation, they need to give rap attention to the development of their skills and knowledgeable women entrepreneurs have the ability to attract competent employees, and competent employees affect the growth and success of their business ventures, therefore it would be conclusive to say that for women entrepreneurs in Nigeria to attract and retain a good workforce, they need to be knowledgeable. We recommend that government should make available resources to women entrepreneurs especially those in the micro and small enterprises and women entrepreneurs should pay rapt attention in the development and growth oftheir skills.
