Abstract

Human race has experienced a sudden ascent in the quant Hies of drug users, especially among l he young people. It is believed that drug use and abuse have turned out to be well known because of the simplicity of its. circulation crosswise over national and household fringes and the accessibility of financing from individuals from varying backgrounds. This paper examines emerging trends oj Drug abuse among youths in Nigeria. The paper makes use of secondary data mainly from newspapers, textbooks, magazines, scholarly articles, the UXs reports, among others, to explore emerging trends of drug abuse among youths in Nigeria. The paper concludes that Drug abuse is a universal problem and the trends have completely changed. Hence, the paper recommends that government should have a well- defined comprehensive and realistic policy on the control of drugs; and Public education should be targeted at the vulnerable segment of society, such as the older children, adolescent and young adults.
