Abstract
The study investigated the effect of herdsmen attack on economic, social and school development of Nasarawa State. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of herdsmen attack on economic, social and educational development. The variable of the study included economic, social and educational development. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. Three research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The population ofthe study was 1,379 displaced people fivm 2 local government areas, and the sample size was 300 respondents. A self-structured questionnaire titled: Effects of herdsmen attack on economic, social and educational development questionnaire (EHAESEO) containing 15 items was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by two lecturers fivm the Department of Educational Foundation, Nasarawa State University, Keffi. The data collected were analysed using means ratings and standard deviation in answering research questions and Chi-square ofgoodness of fit was used in testing null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that herdsmen attacks have significant negative effects on economic, social and development of Nasarawa Stale. Based on the findings of the study the researchers made the following recommendations: that the Federal Government should deploy security agencies to the affected local government areas, and Nasarawa State House of Assembly should make laws prohibiting open grazing by herdsmen.
