Abstract

The decentralisation of Local Governance has over the years played a major role in the development of entrepreneurs in Nigeria. This paper examines how the presence of local governance has helped in the development of entrepreneurs and national development. The methodology used is the primary and secondary data. For the primary data the Chi-square were used to analyse the data that was collected while for the secondary data a wide range of literature were examined and discussed. The literature on decentralisation, local government and entrepreneurs were discussed. This paper concludes that for any nation to develop entrepreneur wise there is the need for the people to feel the presence of their government at the local level through and provision of credit finance from the micro- banks to assist them develop and grow. Training and retraining of these entrepreneurs by organising workshops by the local government to help them improve and get more information on present innovations would really encourage these entrepreneurs.
