Item Open Access Administrative and Cultural Problems of Islamic Education in Nasarawa State, Nigeria.(Department of Islamic Studies, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2018-10-10) Abdullahi, Adamu SulaimanThe importance of Islamic education in the general development of any society cannot be under-estimated. For any Muslim nation to survive in a rapidly developing world, morally and spiritually, politically and economically, socially and educationally, emotionally and psychologically, the administration and management of this level of education, in particular, must not be subjected to the whims and caprices of opportune politicians. In order to highlight the envisaged administrative and cultural problems in the development of Islamic education in Nasarawa State, this paper briefly addresses itself to probing such questions as: What should be the aims of Islamic education? How should Islamic educational policy be determined? what should be the role of Nasarawa State Government in the development of Islamic educational policy? How can the support and co-operation of other groups and agencies be enlisted? What cultural aspects should be considered in developing Islamic education in the State. This paper adopts historical and analytical methods to arrive at the conclusion and the paper recommends that government and other stakeholders at all levels should support and encourage Islamic education; financially and administratively at all levels for the purpose of moral reinvigoration of our youth who are leaders of tomorrowItem Open Access DYNAMCS OF ISLAMIC PRACTICE AMONG THE NYANKPA PEOPLE OF PANDA DEVELOPMENT AREA IN KARU LOCAL GOVERNMENT, NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA(Department of Islamic Studies, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2017-04-11) Abdullahi, Adamu SulaimanThis study seeks to assess the spread of Islam among the Nyankpa ethnic group of Panda Development Area of Kara Local Government of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. A interview method was used to gather data from people in Panda Development Area. Data were collected from primary and secondaiy sources and analyzed using historical and descriptive study design to assess the spread of Islam among the Nyankpa ethnic group of Panda Development Area oj Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The results of the study reveal that illiteracy, poverty, language barriers are some the common constraints hindering the spread of Islam among the Nyankpa ethnic group of Panda Development Area. The study recommends that Muslim organizations and associations like the Jama'atu Nasril Islam, Jama'atul Izalatil Bid’ia Wa Iqama tis Sunnah, Fityanul Islam, Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs etc. should assist in providing all the necessary infrastructure and other basic facilities including Muslim scholars and Da 'awah agents that will aid in spreading the message of Islam among the people of Nyankpa ethnic group of Panda Development Area of Karu Local GovernmentItem Open Access DYNAMICS OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION IN NASARAWA STATE.(Department of Islamic Studies, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2020-02-01) Abdullahi, Adamu SulaimanIn Islamic education, there are several key concepts that are essential elements in the system.Theseincludes concept of religion (deen), the concept of man, the concept of knowledge (ilm), concept of wisdom (Hikmah), concept justice (’adl), the concept of charity etc. This book is based on the premise that Islamic Education in Nasarawa State plays a significant role in producing an integrated personality of young generation in order to fulfil the needs of the nation in the twenty-first century. Thus, it argues that there is a need for an integrated school curriculum which could develop all student potentials. This book is important as it address several key issues related directly to the effectiveness of the implementation of Islamic Education curriculum and the changes undergone by the Muslim in the process of acquiring Islamic Education. It is clear that Islamic Education has rapidly progressed and well accepted in Nasarawa State educational mainstream particularly among the Muslims. Despite these, the book revealed that some Islamic Education teachers in Nasarawa State still have less adequate knowledge of the integrated concept of Islamic Education. Also, the book discovered that there were some identified problems such as lack of cooperation from the school leaderships, undesirable school environments, exam-oriented trend as well as the inadequacy of teachers in some schools which hinders the effectiveness of the implementation of adequate Islamic Education in the State among the Muslims. Accordingly, the book suggested that all Islamic education stakeholders in Nasarawa State should take necessary steps to ensure the future improvement of Islamic Education in Nasarawa State.Item Open Access Role of Muslim Scholars in the Prevention and Control of Electoral Violence in Nigeria(Department of Islamic Studies, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2019-10-10) Abdullahi, Adamu SulaimanElections are key pillars of any democratic system and have become the commonly accepted means of legitimizing government. Once elections are defective, it is an invitation to violence in the country which may perhaps result into political instability. This study examines the role of Muslim scholars in the prevention and control of electoral violence in Nigeria and its implications for political stability. The methodology for this study is interviewing analytical research design in terms of reviewing the outcome of general elections in Nigeria. The paper adopts Islamic context as a framework of analysis and argued that Muslim scholars are in the best position to ensure the observance of free, fair, transparent, credible and violent-free elections in Nigeria because of their religious position and their closeness to the people at the grassroot. They also holds strategic position disseminating peace messages to the people on the bedrock and foundation of Islamic principles. The study recommends adherence to the Islamic teachings and rule of law as a major step to achieving stability and violent-free elections in Nigeria.
