The aim of this paper is to emphasize the need for leaders in Nigeria to be aware that good governance cannot be achieved properly when the attitude of looting public treasury has become the order of the day and a competition among them especially, the elected representatives in our nation, various states, constituencies and local government councils. The practice and involvement of the leaders in the corruption is stagnating the development of Nigeria and refuse to pave way for sustainable development. The method applied in this paper is the use of Qur’an and Hadith as primary sources while the related literatures in the library as secondary sources of information gathering. It is found that injustice and discrimination are the mother of corruption in the society while promoting justice, fairness to citizens in terms of appointment, providing social security and enabling environment for economic growth and respect for code of conduct should be seen practiced by the leadersen_US
