Abstract
The study investigated the effects of multimedia instructional method on secondary schools Students Academic Achievement in Economics in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The research determined whether multimedia instructional method has significant effects on the learning achievement of senior secondary school students in economics. Three research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The study utilized the non-randomized control group pretest post-test experimental design. The sample consisted of 120 students from four schools selected through simple random sampling procedures. Students of the experimental group were instructed in four units of Economics syllabus using table projector while conventional teaching method was used for control group. Economics Achievement Test (EA T) was developed and duly validated by experts. Data collected were analyses using mean to answered research questions and Two-tailed t-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05, level of significance. Major findings of the study indicated, that there is a statistical significant difference in the mean achievement scores of students taught using multimedia instructional methods and those taught using conventional method and males in the experimental group significantly performed better than their female counterparts. The researcher recommended that, government should formulate a policy that will provide multimedia instructional material for teaching and learning and organized workshop for training of teachers using multi-medias kills.
