Fonnal education has come to stay in Nigeria. The formal education driven educational institutions appear to he concentrated in the urban centres to the ignoring of the rural settings with a plethora, of poor quality educational infrastructural facilities. Education in urban centres seem to be enjoying more attention by government and the mass of the people. This paper is burdened with explicating what the fonnal education portrait is in urban and rural settings with specific reference to Nigeria - as an independent geopolitical entity.en_US
