| dc.description.abstract | Civil Society remains an indispensable platform for building and sustaining democratic governance, which in its own right has become a highly priced and sought after political amenity without which human security peace and development. In the process, it is expected to usher in peace and national development which are major components of human security. The broad task of this write-up, attempts to look at the resurgence of Civil Societies in Nigeria. It defines the concept of Civil Society, roles in good governance in a democratic and non-democratic state. It proceeds in the stand point as a vital instrumentfor containing the power in a democratic setting. Also, lack of Civil Society organization render the state as a fortified city where communication between the lead and led are restricted. It explores the problems encountered by Civil Society as well recommends viable mechanism in making the organization to check any authoritarian regime to achieve the realization of collective goals | en_US |
