Abstract
Educational management refers to how people, plants and programmes are organized and manage to achieve educational objectives. University education is expected to discover and impart new knowledge, prepare people for leadership positions in all works of life and strive to promote equality as well as social justice. Innovative educational management in public universities calls for dynamic approach in managing people, programmes and plants in the school system. However, some factors can limit the level of innovativeness in educational management in public universities such as management factor, poor policy implementation, government instability and persons occupying leadership positions in university institutions. This position paper therefore recommends management orientation, monitoring policy implementation, government neutral support in university education and teamwork of persons occupying leadership positions in universities in ensuring innovative education management to produce individuals who will contribute significantly to sustainable national development.
