dc.description.abstract | Provision of health care services is the core mandate of every government whether at the local, state, or Federal level. However, achieving this objective requires a motivated workforce through the instrumentality of an articulated incentive scheme. This study is conducted to examine how the provision of incentive schemes enhances the performance of health workers in Kogi State. The study which adopts a descriptive survey design reached a sample size of384 respondents out of the total population of9324 using the Rakesh 2013 sample size statistical formula. Again, the study reached respondents through a structured questionnaire designed using five points Likert scale while hypotheses were tested using multiple regression and t-test statistical analysis. The study revealed that there is a significant impact of the provision of monetary, non-monetary incentives and assurance of job security on the performance of health workers in Kogi State. Thus, the study recommends strengthening of mechanism towards the provision of these incentives to health workers as a way of enhancing their performance in Kogi State.
