Abstract

The concept of development and transformation in contemporary Nigeria is a complex and controversial phenomenon. This is because we have continued to witness the emergence of the new concepts in the discourse of national development. The major preoccupation of development planners, policy initiators and implementer in Nigeria has been on how to achieve a rapid transformation and sustainable development within a given period of time. This phenomenon has attracted several debates and controversy among and between the policy makers and development organizations, institutions, public sectors, economic and different school of thought are irrevocably committed to policy formation and provision of social amenities, social services, social security, among others, to the generality of the people.
