Abstract
The study examines the effect of supply chain management practices on the performance of selected manufacturing companies in Plateau State using four (4) practices of supply chain that cover the upstream, downstream and internal practices which are strategic suppliers’ partnership, customer relationship, level and quality of information sharing and postponement. Data were collected through questionnaire, approximately 50 copies of questionnaire were distributed among the top, middle and low level managers in 10 organisations which were expected to have the best knowledge about their supply chain operations and its impact on the overall performance of the organisation, 48 of them responded positively. The data were analysed using regression analysis model. The result showed that there is a positive relationship between supply chain practices and organisational performance and it was recommended that to improve both strategic suppliers’ partnership level and quality of information sharing, less effort should be put on customer relationship as it has a negative and insignificant effect on performance of an organisation while postponement should be practiced minimally as it has a negative though insignificant impact on organisational performance.
