Abstract
Land has ever been a priceless commodity. Every body wants to have it. This applies to the government at all levels. Government would want a piece of land for public purpose. Proper procedures have to be followed to acquire it. Often people are affected. It is because of this that attempt has been made in this article to appraise the requirements for the benefit of all concerned. The methods of land acquisition is discussed, what prompts government to acquire land, how the revocation is done. Obstacles faced by the government in this respect are discussed. What makes for adequate compensation, to whom compensation is made, and finally adequate recommendations are proffered for the benefit of all.
