IMPACT OF NATURAL DISASTER ON HUMAN SECURITY IN NIGERIA

This paper examines the impact of natural disaster on human security in Nigeria. The study examined how natural disaster affects some of the indices or elements of human security including personal security, health security, economic security, food security, environmental security, among others. The paper used secondary sources of data by reviewing previous relevant literature. The paper argued that natural disaster impacts on different elements of human security as it leads to the loss of lives and properties among citizens, economic damages and environmental degradation in enormous proportions, health and food insecurity, to mention a few. The paper recommended, among other things, that inter-agency linkage should be strengthened to allow for easy collaboration. Keywords: Natural, Human, Disaster, National, Security.
