dc.description.abstractHealth as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being is not merely the absence of disease”. In Nigeria, most of genetic disorders are not properly understood and this leads to divorces. The aim of this study is to expose the needfor broadcasting media to be covering the counselling sessions on non-genetic disorder bearing in mind the features of radio and television, it will go a long way to stop breaking up ofm arriages because of ignorance and limited resources to the citizens they do not know that counselling sessions are held to manage the situation. Using the survey method 100 individuals between the ages of 16-45 were randomly selected for evaluation of genetic disorder counselling awareness. Questionnaires were taken to hospitals, Asokoro District Hospital Abuja and Federal Medical Centre Keffi, Nasarawa State. From this it was discovered that 80% of the respondents showed that they were not aware that these Hospital offer such services and individuals exposed to counselling agreed that genetic counselling would help in prevention of genetic diseases. Among other things the researcher recommended that broadcast media should take it as a duty to keep citizens on the awareness, counselling sessions on genetic disorder to ease their anxiety.en_US
