Abstract
Privatisation implies the permanent transfer of ownership, control and operation of certain key economic enterprises from public to private hands. It is aimed at attracting private investment that could serve as a catalyst for economic growth and development of a country. As such this study was design to assess the effects of the privatisation policy on the performance of Benue Cement Company. The theoretical inspiration of this work is the application of the Structuralfunctional approach which provides a significant mechanism for the analysis of various social processes and the work adopted documentary method in assessing the privatisation policy on performance of Benue Cement Company. As an instrument of data collection, secondary data were used and analysed. After which it was discovered that the effects of privatisation policy on the performance of Benue cement Company has boost the performance of the staff of the company, also, it has reduce wastage level during production of goods which in turn has increase the sales level of the company thereby making them to produce more to meet the need of the targeted customers. Based on the following, the study recommends that Government should set up a veritable regulatory mechanism for the industries that will be in charge of issues of pricing, coordination and competition among other operators, as well as protecting the interests of the customers.
