dc.description.abstractThe study assessed community development projects in Donut Local Government of Nasarawa State looking at the successes recorded, challenges being faced as well as its prospects. 'The objectives oj the study included i) to assess the successes recorded in community development programmes in the local government, ii) to identify the problems associated with community development and Hi) to examine the prospects of the community development programmes. An integrated research method was used which incorporated the survey and the interview techniques in data collection. 'The study had 165 respondents from development associations and local government staff concerned with community development. Unstructured and informal interviews were conducted. The study found that successes were minimal, while challenges were enormous, but there are tremendous prospects amid these challenges. The study recommended the mobilization oj community leaders, development associations and training oj leaders on the need for identification of priorities as panacea for community developmenten_US
