Thuggery can he termed as any act of intimidation, violence, hooliganism, brutality or gangsterism, whether leading to death or not, calculated to pose a threat or scale an opponent or perceived opponents before, during or after an event and aimed at achieving undue result or advantage. It is an act of inciting or causing others to act in disorderly manner, or a situation of being in illegal possession of or usage of offensive weapons with the aim of scaring, intimidating or destroying the lives and properties of an opponent. The practice of thuggery has become a worrisome problem among the Muslim Community in Nasarawa State where youth are seen destroying properties or intimidating people as a result of trivial issues be it football, political campaigns, youth forum or social events. This paper adopts analytical and descriptive methodology to arrive at a conclusion. The paper finds out that the practice of thuggery among Muslim youth in Nasarawa State is basically due to idleness among youth and the inability of the government to provide the youth with reasonable jobs that can occupy them and keep them busy. The paper recommends that government and other stakeholders should do everything possible to ensure that youth are provided with jobs thtit will keep them busy so as to control their emotions and psychology.en_US
