dc.description.abstract | This paper undertakes a critical analysis of youth unemployment and informal sector in Nigeria, as wel as its effects, causes and implications. Youths are very important stakeholder in any society. They are not only the future of Nigeria, but also a major stakeholder and useful resource in nation building. However, available data show that youth unemployment is very prevalent in Nigeria with far reaching implications for stability of the economy. Successive governments have failed to create new jobs and to ensure job security. This paper suggests the strengthening of the informal sector as an alternative strategy towards job creation and hence alleviating the poverty situation in Nigeria. To move out of poverty, jobs must be created in micro, small and medium enterprises as a right step in attaining the desired reduction in the. level of poverty. | en_US |
