dc.description.abstract | Media literacy is indeed a useful tool for sustainable development in Nigeria. Hence this paper establishes the rudiments for its enhancement. It states that media is equivalent to the weather, it may be annoying but definitely the society will have difficulty getting along without it; the trick therefore, ___ ____ effectively. The paper reiterates that the growth of mass media in the past century has created a world-wide environment of its own; therefore, the need to adapt to its is enormous. The is to use it usage paper reviewed media as a concept to comprise: Television, Newspaper, Radio and the Internet, it also studied Literacy as a concept, education and the concept of media message is also reviewed in the paper. The paper examines existing literatures relevant to its position ranging within Nigeria context through the Africa and wider world. The study is anchored on media system dependency theory which attempt to explain why media could have varying cognitive, affective and behavioral effect on different people and society. The paper examines the displacement of traditional media by the internet, the in-depth, specialized information and the internet. It concludes that the need for media education is evident. | en_US |
