dc.description.abstractOver the years, adoption of use of information communication technology ICT by organizations including board of internal revenue services in Nigeria is ever increasing. The essence is to improve the performance of the sector in terms of operational efficiency, service quality delivery and improve revenue collection, yet the sector still witness performance inconsistency or low performance even with the adoption of use of ICT. It has therefore become worrisome as questions are frequently raised as whether to go back to the usual manual system (pre ICT adoption system) of revenue collection. However, the problem that need to address is to determine whether the adoption of ICT by Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue has impact on their performance or not. The objective was thus, to assess the impact of information and communication technology on the performance of Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service. The study relied on literatures that provide conceptual understanding and theoretical underpinning of the study construct. This study adopted survey and descriptive research design. The population used for this study was one hundred and forty two (142) senior staff of Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service. The study covered the period between 2005 to 2011for Pre ICT era and the period of 2012 to 2018 for Post ICT era. The sample size used for the study was the same as the population of the study. The study utilized both primary and secondary data. The study used questionnaire to obtained primary data while secondary data was obtained from Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service statistical unit. The reliability of the instrument used was accessed using Cronbach alpha. The data were analysed using descriptive statistical tools of frequency, table and percentage, while inferential statistical tool of ordinary least squares regression analysis and T –test were used to test the hypothesis raised for the study. The study found that information and communication technology (ICT) has a positive and significant impact on operational efficiency, performance, quality service delivery and revenue collection of Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service (NSBIRS). The study also found that there is positive and significant difference between revenue collection in pre ICT adoption and post ICT adoption era of NSBIRS. Based on the findings, the study conclude that the performance of Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service is as a result of ICT adoption in the sector. The study thus recommended that Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service (NSBIRS) should maintain the adoption or use of ICT in order to keep improving their operational efficiency, performance, quality service delivery and revenue collection in the stateen_US
