Abstract
This study set oat to investigate the knowledge and adoption of agricultural innovations by farmers in Taraba State. Survey was used as the research design, while questionnaire was used as the instrument of data collection. Findings showed that Taraba Radio Service (90.7 FM) has been actively involved in the dissemination of agricultural innovations programmes; such innovations include improved variety of seeds, soil selection and application of fertilizers of various types, preservation methods, judicious distribution of crops, as well as, livestock farming and fish culture. Findings further showed that the farmers have adopted some of the farming techniques they have learnt on Taraba Radio Service (90.7 FM). Based on the findings, it was concluded that the farmers know about the agricultural innovation programmes and have adopted the techniques learnt to a great extent. It was, therefore, recommended, among others, that for higher achievements in agricultural sector through the broadcast media, there should be a policy initiative to expand the broadcast media, especially radio and integrate the other media involved in agricultural information with radio for more adoption of agricultural innovations and development in Taraba State and indeed the entire nation.
