Abstract
This paper examines how Information Technology (IT) has impacted on the field of Human Resource Management with special reference to the strategic accounting process. The paper is analytical in nature. It provides a description of IT and how it could be helpful in the area of Human Resource Management (HRM). Studies on the area of IT and the performance of a workforce within an organization were reviewed and their findings and or suggestions captured. From the discussions therein, it is glaring that IT, coupled with the needed paradigm shift in accounting theory and practice, is an important tool in organizational management and could assist in the area of HRM and strategic recruitment, training, and retention of employees. Although some challenges are identified with the application of IT in HRM, those challenges could be adequately solved when an organization is committed to the improvement of its workforce and their performance. It is therefore a necessity for organizations to identify their human resource critical success factors within their line of business and embrace IT facilities in developing a strategic HRM team.
