Abstract
This study is a sociolinguistic survey of the languages spoken in Mubi North Local Government Area ofAdamawa State. It aims at finding out the number of languages widely spoken in Mubi Local Government Area ofAdamawa state. The study collected data from primary sources through the use of Questionnaire and the researchers' observation, as well as secondary, sources. The study found that there are both indigenous and non-indigenous languages spoken in Mubi Local Government Area ofAdamawa state. The indigenous languages include: Fali, Gudey Burn, Fulfddc, Huba, and Bata language; while the non-indig enous languages are: Margi, tybo, and Hausa language. Although, the study reveals that Hausa and Fulfulde are the dominant languages which have overshadowed other indigenous and non-indig enous languages in the area. However, this study is significant as it will be of immense use to future researchers in the study of the sociolinguistics of Mubi North Local Government Area and Adamawa state as a whole.
