SOCIAL MEDIA AS TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT (FACEBOOK): ITS POSITIVE SIDE FROM ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE

Islam recognizes the positive use of any technological devices and media. Facebook is been widely accepted and utilized by many populace in the world including Muslims, some uses it for good while some commit illegality through the Facebook pages and accounts. The nudity, hacking of people‟s account fraudulent advertisement, etc. the aim of this research is to discuss on the positive aspect of Facebook as a social medial. The methodology adopted is library based, interview and observations. This article is significant to readers, especially the Muslims who can use the media to view and listen to the programs of Islamic scholars in increasing their knowledge. Our findings revealed that many Muslims misuse Facebook by wasting time on unnecessary charting, posting of negativity and fabricated news. It is recommended that Muslims especially youth should use Facebook in what is righteous, also the various educative programs of Islamic scholars should be given full attention so as to participate and benefit from. We finally recommend the use of various platforms and forums by the Islamic scholars to advice and encourages Muslims to shun vices attached to Facebook.
