Abstract

There exist so many studies on the impact of Information Communication Technology on the Performance of SMEs and diverse related and contradicting results have been generated from the studies. This situation validates the reason that the result from this study contradicts some existing studies. This study examined the impact of Information Communication Technology on the Performance of SMEs in the FCT. The study covered the period of eleven years from 2010 to 2021. Data for the study were extracted from the administered questionnaire responses and the secondary data, the number (2,825) of registered SMEs in FCT was obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Taro Yamane formula was used to determine the sample size of 350 which 336 questionnaires were returned valid. After running the Linear regression, a robustness test was conducted for the validity of statistical inferences. Multiple regression was employed to run the data of the study using SPSS version 20. The results from the analysis revealed a weak insignificant impact between Information Communication Technology (INTERNET) and the Performance of SMEs in FCT. The study concluded that internet have no significant impact on the performance of SMEs in FCT. In line with the findings, the study recommended among others that government should invest in ICT infrastructure as social amenities provision; this will influence the cost of ICT integration into the activities of SMEs, also, legislation guiding the development, deployment, implementation and use of ICT must be updated in order to cover new trends in ICT.
