    EFFECT OF TERRORISM AND INSECURITY ON EDUCATION TO NIGERIAN DEVELOPMENT

    This paper examines the effect of terrorism and insecurity on education to Nigeria development. The current challenge posed by Boko-Haram sect in Nigeria introduced a terrorist dimension into the crime space in Nigeria. The research design used for the study was descriptive survey method. The population for the study comprised all Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) migrants from North-Eastern Nigeria to Garafcu in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. There was no sampling because of the smallness of the size number, so the entire population was used which formed about 360persons. The instrument usedfor the study was questionnaire of 10 items with the applications of Likert 1966 scale ofSA, A, D and SDA to elicit the respondents level of agreement with the items on the instrument. The items on the instrument were subjected to descriptive statistics using simple percentage. The result of the findings revealed that the effect of terrorism insecurity on the (IDP) amounted to loss of life qnd properties, lack of asses to education, closure of schools kidnapping of over 200 secondaiy school Chibok girls, the killing of over 300 teachers, killing of 42 students in school in Yobe state. As well as government's poor attitude towards curbing insecurity. This findings agreed with that of Ogege (2013), Erne and Onyishi (2011) who stated that destruction of lives and properties, kidnapping of200 secondaiy school Chibok girls, the killing of over 300 teachers,poverty and hunger The closure of over 500 schools, displacement and dislocation of citizens including students and pupils and among others are some of the effect of terrorism, insecurity to education in Nigeria target development. Recommendations were made based on the findings of the study.
