    CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF “Developpemenl de Felevage en Afriquc subsaharienne: Reperepour la cooperation”

    This paper is set to analyze the translations of a french text on the development of Animal Husbandry in Sub - Saharan Africa, indicating points for cooperation between the French government and interested, countries in the sub region. In Nigeria, for example, the two governments have signed a pact in Agriculture, which includes the above, under the FAD AM A projects.Consequently, the translator becomes more or less a “rewrite”. He participates at different levels: first, in the reformulation. And since the task of the translator is to “reproduce” the message, his freedom is limited, thereby making his task very difficult because he needs to ask and answer various questions concerning the text to he translated. What are these questions? The translation at hand is a translation of a pragmatic text which involves pragmatic “explanations What then constitutes the equivalence of the text to be translated? In other words, how can the translator go into the pragmatic “explanations’'? These are the questions this paper seeks to address. The paper compares the French text (Source Language) with the English (Target Language) translation. The source language comes from the French Government but the English version was done here in Nigeria. The paper analyses the translations, discovers some lapses and proffers possible solutions to the problems.
