Item Open Access FACTORS DETERMINING THE RELIABILITY OF ECONOMICS AND GEOGRAPHY TEACHER-MADE TESTS IN KOKONA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA(Department of Educational Foundations, Nasarawa State University, Keffi., 2019-04-07) Allahnana, Kwanza Maikudi; Abashi, John AbedeThis study investigated the factors determining the reliability of Economics and Geography teacher-made tests in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. This study adopted descriptive survey research design. The target population for this study comprised of 16 public senior secondary schools with 389 students. Simple random sampling technique was used to sample 10 schools with 273 students for the study. The instruments that were used for data collection were Economics Teacher- Made Test (ETMT) and Geography Teacher-Made Test (GTMT). The instruments were divided into two sections. Section (A) sought to find out respondents” bio-data while section (B) addresses the factors determining the reliability of Economics and Geography teacher-made tests under the 20 multiple items choice each based on the curriculum of Economics and Geograpny. The respondents were given the ETMT and GTMT to respond to the items. This were done before treatment was administered. Content validity was used to determine the ETMT and GTMT at 0.89 and 0.84 indices while Kiirder-recharson-21 was used to determine the reliability coefficient of 0.87 and 0.94. Descriptive statistics of means and standard deviations were used to answered research questions while inferential statistic of t-test was used to test the formulated hypotheses at 0.05 level qt significance. Findings from the study revealed that there was no significant difference between time and the reliability of teacher made tests when the t-value of .459, with the Significant value of0.003, was less than the table value (P<0.005). It was recommended among others that both Economics and Geography teachers should consider all the determinant factors ojf reliability when constructing or developing teacher-made test and the test should be valid, reliable, scorable and useful.
