The study employed the descriptive survey design. 186 employees of selected banks was sampled using stratified random sampling technique. The data collected were analyzed using correlation co-efficient and regression analysis as analytical tools. The findings revealed that self control is significantly related to employee performance (/I = .505, 0.01). Self-awareness is positively related to employee performance fli = .448, 0.01). There is a significant relationship between social competency and employee performance (p - ,457, 0.01 fin the Nigerian banking industry. More so relationship management is significantly related to employee performance(P = .457, 0.01). The study concluded that emotional intelligence had impact on employee performance in the Nigerian banking industry. It was recommended that Nigerian Banking Organization should create more awareness and promote emotional intelligence in their organization, this could be achieved through the drawing of staff on emotional intelligence.
