In the same year, Robert Gallo and colleagues, working at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) USA made a similar discovery in their quest to find the cancer-causing virus. An HIV infected person is someone who has the virus that causes AIDS and may or may not know that he/she is infected but can transmit the virus to another person. A total of 200 pregnant women were used for this research work from five selected Health facilities in Keffi metropolis.
