Using data generated through secondary sources and subjected to description analysis, it was revealed. that community development programmes in Nigeria have been facing the problems of inadequate financial and technical resources for successful implementation of community development projects. This situation has left most of the rural areas in Nigeria to continue to remain backward in terms of development despite the existence of community development activities. To achieve successful community development programmes in Nigeria, the study suggests that the following strategies can be utilized for mobilizing financial and technical resources for community development: imposing of levies, project appeal fund, community day celebration, obtaining loans, conferment of honours and chieftaincy titles, joint venture, utilization of informal financial intermediaries, and undertaking projects that attract funds generation and maintenance of technical equipment.enArticle
