It developed by FBI is concerned with application of psychological knowledge and principles in the analysis of the facts of crime, the crime scene story as 'written' by the criminal or criminals at the crime scene, otherwise known as the “modus operandum ” It is the analysis of the totality of the facts of crime and the crime scene that provides the profiler with the psychological inkling in terms of the demographic and personality characteristics of who the criminals are likely to be. It is when the result of that analysis, exercise matches with the crime modus Operandu that credence is given to possible prediction the properties of the mind-set of the criminal.
