Its current trend places emphasis on learners’ participation, otherwise referred to as action method. This idea of learners’ freedom calls for teachers in this field to be versatile and resourceful since they are linguists. It is as a result of this learner-centred trend that this paper tries to present a way of inculcating in the learners, the skills of creativity and critical thinking which are traits of proficient speakers of any given language. The practical approach to the teaching and learning of literature in French is demonstrated in this work. The model used for the criticism is furnished by the rhetoric linguistics which has invention, disposition, elocution, mnemonic and action * as its sub-headings. The paper concludes that learners become more creative and active through this approach. The paper therefore advocates for more learners’ active participation during classroom interactions as part of the recommendations.enCritical Thinking, Creativity, Rhetoric, Developmental PrinciplesA PRACTICAL APPROACH TO REALISING CREATIVITY IN A CLASS OF LITERATURE IN FRENCHArticle
