JUVENILE ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND REDUCTION IN CRIME RATE IN NIGERIAhttps://keffi.nsuk.edu.ng/handle/20.500.14448/2277This paper examines the contributions 0/ juvenile entrepreneurship development to the reduction 6% crime rate in Nigeria. Unemployment has been a major problem in Nigeria today, which is why emphasis has been laid on entrepreneurship development. The problem of unemployment has brought to the society so many vices. One of the major vice created by unemployment is high rate of crime as an adage goes that ،،idle mind is the devil s workshop”. Increasingly, children both underage and grown are seen on the street of Nigeria begging for alms while others walk aimlessly looking for food in the dump stand. Emphasis has been laid on youth, women and other entrepreneurship development but little or no emphasis is laid on juvenile entrepreneurship development. This paper brings to light how important it is to channel the energy and minds of these less privileged and homeless children to entrepreneurship development since they cannot afford formal education. Leaving them on the street to beg for alms or walk aimlessly in search of daily bread can only lead them to get involved in criminal activities. The paper concludes that if these children are involved in entrepreneurship development, they will develop entrepreneurial spirit and skills that will take them out of the street and make them become entrepreneurs. The study therefore recommends that governments at Local, State and Federal levels should create a Juvenile Entrepreneurship Development Centres) where these children should be made to acquire entrepreneurial skills,enJuvenile Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship, Development, Crime Rate, UnemploymentJUVENILE ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND REDUCTION IN CRIME RATE IN NIGERIAArticle
