dc.description.abstractAn appropriate and capital structure is a crucial decision for any business organization. The decision is important not only because of the need to maximize returns, but also because of the impact such a decision has an organization's ability to deal with its competitive environment. Capital structure can affect the performance of firms either positively or negatively and there is no hard rule in arriving at optimal structure. The objective of this study is examine the impact of capital structure on the performance of firms. Data were collected from annual report of the sampled firms for the period of study (2004-2013) and this data were analyzed using summary statistics and ordinary lease square regression method.
