The paper discussed guidance and counselling services for the implementation of the Universal Basic Education Programme. The guidance and counselling services listed and discussed were appraisal, educational, personal/social, counselling, vocational, orientation, information, placement and referral services. The paper concluded that for effective implementation of the UBE programme, guidance and counselling services in schools would be of great importance. It further recommended among others that professional counsellors be employed by government to man the guidance and counselling centres, for maximum benefit of the UBE programme.en_US
