Access to education is a key element of girl-child's right. Data on enrolment pattern in Adamawa state in general and Adamawa Central Senatorial District in particular reveals that disparities exist between the enrolment of males and females into primary and junior secondary schools. These disparities are as a result of notable barriers which are the major objectives of this paper they were identified as parents' education, their socioeconomic status, religion and cultural attitudes/practices. These identified obstacles were hypothesized. Questionnaires and oral interviews were administered to both literate and illiterate parents thereby producing results which justified the barriers as the genesis of the existing gap between males'and females' enrolments. Based on the findings, recommendations were proffered.en_US
