Abstract

This study examined school violence and psychosocial adjustment ofsecondary school students in Keffi Municipal Area of Nasarawa State. Two hypotheses guided the study. A descriptive survey design was employed. A sample of 388 Senior Secondary School Students from a population of 41,301 were selected through multistage sampling technique. Data was collected through researcher made instrument titled “School Violence and Adjustment Questionnaire (SVAQ) ”. Chi square statistics was used to analyze the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The study found out that physical violence and verbal violence have significant influence on psychosocial adjustment of students. Based on the findings, the study recommended that psychologists, counsellors and educational administrators should make sure that relevant facilities are made available for adjustment of victims of school violence. This can be done by the use of individual counselling, group counselling, personal social guidance and preventive t counselling.
