Political Re-structuring in Nigeria: A Panacea for Unity, Co-existence and Sustainable Development

Abstract

The call for restructuring of Nigeria has continued to gather momentum in recent times, with multiplicity of perspectives by advocates on the meaning, of restructuring in the context of Nigeria's situation. The study is designed to access the issues, challenges facing and sustainable significance of political restructuring in Nigeria. The theoretical framework for this work is Marxist theory of political economy and the method adopted is essentially the content analysis. This study shows that the pride of any government is the attainment of higher value level of development in such a way that its citizens would derive natural attachment to governance as well as to make the country to operate, more effectively. Although, Nigeria has many problems that has been a hindrance to political restructuring in the country which are but not limited to: nepotism, corruption, election-malpractice, political marginalization, insecurity, poor electricity, poor education, incessant unemployment among others.
