dc.description.abstract | The article examines Chukwuemeka Ike s Toads for supper within the theoretical context of New Historicism. Such issues as the diversity of dissonant voices which expresses the forces of an era, the embedded nature of a literary material within the framework of history, aspects of class and ethnicity prevalent in a culture, the use of techniques and symbolisms as a historicist “transaction ”, and the interchanges of diverse elements and forces (all as embodiments of the theory) are analyzed, using the internal relations of words, images, proverbs and symbols. | en_US |
