Abstract

Proficiency is a quality necessary for every positive human because it gives rise to expertise and assures the undertaking. However, many hindrances quality which we should all endeavour success of even come in play against this crave for. The importance of French language as a potent tool to national unity and development cannot be emphasized as this language has all the necessaiy ingredients which can help unite this nation and Brings not only unity amongst its ) over citizens but also brings national development in Nigeria as well as the sub-region as a whole.. To achieve this feat, the government has to formulate a new language policy for the teaching and learning of French language. The implementation of this language policy getting all the more in time with contemporary matters of the international community, breaking the existing Anglophone linguistic barrier through the enhancement of communication between the two linguistic communities and more so creating a forum for national unity and development. So the propagation of French has to be embarked upon through a proper formation of the required manpower, adequate provision of resources and effective management of the resources.
