Abstract
The study interrogates the activities of Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) as it relates to its constitutional responsibility of ensuring Good Governance in Nigeria's public service via transparency and accountability. This was borne out of observable problematique characterised governance style in Nigeria's public service. The .study adopted David Easton system model as theoretical underpinning to guide and drive a befitting explanation of the subject under investigation. Qualitative research method was used and data were collected through secondary source. While content analysis was used to analyse the data collected. In view of the above imperatives, the study found out that there is relatively little correlation between CCB and good governance in Nigeria's public service. This was further supported by a previous finding which indicated that the CCB have performed below expectation and as a result has not ensured good governance in the public service of Nigeria. This is so because of the continuous presence of unethical conducts in the public service of Nigeria, which CCB is meant to address. The study found out that they have not made appreciable progress compare to the devastating and pervasive nature of the problem under investigation. Based on the findings above, the study recommended among others that, for effective and efficient CCB, the Bureau must be allowed to operate without interference especially from the presidency, political elites and other government institutions. They must also have the power to enforce penalties, or at least have others including the judiciary, enforce penalties.
