Abstract

This study examined the influence of parental involvement in examination malpractice on students study habits among tertiary institution students in Kogi East Senatorial District. A descriptive research survey design was used. The sample consisted of 370 respondents from a population of 13,605 students. Two research question and two hypotheses guided the study. A self-developed questionnaire titled: parental Involvement in Examination Malpractice on Students Study Habits Questionnaire (PIEMSSAQ) was administered to respondents. Data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and chi-square statistics. The result showed that parents significantly support their wards in examination malpractice. Parents offered financial and physical support to their wards which negatively in Hue need the study habits of their wards. Based on the findings, the study recommended that parents should be counselled with the rules and regulations of examinations and those educational administrators should emphasize the checking of students in examinations. This will help check the influence of parental involvement in examination malpractice on students study habits.
