Abstract
This study investigated gender ideologies as correlates of career maturity among senior school students in Kebbi State, Nigeria. The study employed correlational design. The population of the study was all public senior secondary school students in the State. The sample size was 400 senior secondary school III (SSIII) students, comprising 200 males and 200 females derived from proportionate random sampling technique from 20 schools. The instrument used for data collection was a modified Likert-type questionnaire titled, “Career Maturity Inventory Attitude Scale for Students” (CMIASS). The instrument was validated by three experts in the Faculty of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria. The instrument was trial-tested in five independent senior secondary schools selected outside the original sampled 20 schools. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach ’s Coefficient Alpha. The reliability index was found to be 0.81. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequencies and percentages for research questions, Pearson9s Product Moment Correlation method was used to test the research hypothesis. The finding of the study showed that there was significant positive relationship between gender ideologies and the students' career maturity.
