dc.description.abstract | Rice provides the staple diet of half the world’s population and is second to wheat in terms of total output. Given the crucial role of rice in the food security of urban and rural household alike, development of rice growing in Nigeria had for long been considered a priority. Annually, Nigeria imports about 1.7 million of white rice because paddy rice in most parts of Nigeria is grown by small farmers. Therefore rice production in Nigeria is the major focus of this research. It discusses local rice cultivation in Nigeria and how to improve its production with some recommendations. | en_US |
