Abstract

The objective of this study was to assess the effect Recruitment, Selection and Organizational Performance in the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Abuja. Four research questions and objectives were formulated for the study. A survey research method was used for this study. Both primary and secondary sources of data were utilised. The total population of the study was 1555 employees of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, out of which 318 respondents were selected and administered copies of questionnaire. The collected data were converted into percentage and frequency for analysis. Among the major findings of the study was that employees are recruited based on placement and quota system/federal character principle hence the performance is said to be at par with the recruitment procedure, where proper placement enhance organizational performance. The study therefore recommended among other things that Recruitment based on placement and quota system/federal character principle encourages corruption and inefficiency, therefore merit should be introduced to bring about effective and efficient performance in UATH.
