dc.description.abstract | In Francophone African literature the concept of sexuality was not really the topic of serious discourse due to the fact that literature was aimed at propagating the "afri can ness" of the Africans and its continent. But recently feminist African writers have started using the concept of sexuality to discuss the condition of women in literary works. In this paper we analyzed the concept of sexuality as portrayed by Calixthe- Beyala in some of her selected works. This is aimed at bringing out Calixthe Beyala'spoint of view as regards to sexuality. We have identified that Beyala used this concept to condemn vehemently the patriarchal oppression that impedes the total "epanouissement" of the African woman. Beyala presented sexuality in different forms: rape, homosexuality, lesbianism, in order to condemn the attitudinal characteristics of the African man and woman as it concerns sexuality. | en_US |
