dc.description.abstractThe signiGcance of work Motivation, Job Satisfaction and productivity in both the public and the private sector cannot over emphasized. The problem associated with the Nigerian public service today has been the issue of low level ofe fficiency that necessitated by absence of motivation and job satisfaction, it's one aspect of management that has attracted so much research without a general agreement on some of the major issues involved, such as the impact of Job Satisfaction as a motivation for high rate of productivity. This study utilized the survey method to find out whether job satisfaction motivates productivity among workers in the federal ministry ofp ower, Abuja. The main objective of the research is to provide relevant information that will assist stakeholders in the area ofp olicy making and implementation to achieve greater success in discharging their responsibilities. Thus study adopted theory X and Y by McGregor as the theoretical framework. The data oft he study were collected from both primary and secondary sources. The findings revealed that lack of financial reward, promotion, job security; salary and recognition are basic factors that make workers not to put in their best in the public service. The research therefore, recommended that the Federal Ministry of Power management should strive more to motivate employees with particular attention being given to promotion, good policy implementation, recognition for hard work, assign responsibility based on merit, good welfare scheme, organized development programmes (like seminars, workshop and conferences), encouragement of staff for further studies, conducive working environment, and above all management should be acquainted with what motivates their workers as a group and as individuals.en_US
